The smart shoe, as found on the Canon R3, allows for the use of accessories such as the Tascam CA-XLR2d-C which provides you with up to 4-channels of audio, XLR inputs and easy to access controls. The button for switching between cinema and stills brings up the familiar cinema menu as found on the C70, while the photo side gives you the menu as found on the R5. Something to note about the DIN timecode input, Canon recommends not using the BlackMagic design cable as it is not compatible with this camera.
